The Planning and Zoning Division of the Building and Development Standards Department conveys the community’s progressive vision, promotes quality of life, and manages the City’s growth by incorporating comprehensive planning with sound economic development practices.
The division provides services regarding land development, long-range planning, and historic preservation. The department reviews and processes applications for site development plans, conditional use permits, plats, and rezonings, among other development requests. The department also prepares and presents development proposals to the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Board of Architectural Review.
Planning and Zoning staff are responsible for working with the community and local agencies to craft the City’s Comprehensive Plan, as well as monitoring implementation of the plan’s goals, objectives, and policies.

If you would like to obtain a Zoning Compliance/Verification Letter, please submit your request to ’email@example.com’ with the below form. There is a $29 fee for each letter and the normal turnaround time for Zoning Letters is two weeks. You may also submit a request througheTRAKiT.

Planning Advisory Committee
The Planning Advisory Committee is a meeting held once a month at City Hall to review residential and commercial projects starting the review process with the City.
City Staff and other local agencies meet the applicants for these projects to give them the basic information about the review process for the City. There is no formal review or decisions made for these projects at this meeting.
This meeting falls in line with the schedule for Planning Commission for projects that require their review.
