City of Greer Chief Financial Officer David Seifert said $28,394.37 is available to grant to successful applicants. The Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee will meet on May 21 to review applications and determine its recommendations to Greer City Council.
“This is an excellent program that puts accommodations tax dollars back into the community,” Seifert said. “We realize that a variety of events bring visitors to the City of Greer and these grants can help improve the quality and awareness of those events.”
Qualified organizations that coordinate activities for the specific purpose of promoting and sponsoring tourism, travel, hospitality, and cultural activities that directly benefit the City of Greer may apply for the grant funds. The planned qualifying event must occur between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020.

Accommodations Tax Grants are provided to eligible projects through revenue received by the City of Greer for its share of the 2% lodging tax levied by the State of South Carolina.
