"Some places in South Carolina are more attractive to settle down in than others,” according to WalletHub financial writer Adam McCann. “In order to figure out the most family-friendly sites, WalletHub compared more than 50 cities across 21 key metrics. Our data set ranges from number of attractions to median family income to the quality of the school system.”
Methodology considered multiple metrics across four areas: Family Life and Fun; Education, Health and Safety; Affordability; and Socio-Economics. Greer already ranks fifth in the state among its percentage of families with children aged 0-17.
The city placed in the top 10 in the rankings for lowest unemployment rate (third), lowest property crime rate per capita (ninth), high school graduate rate (ninth), housing affordability (ninth), and playgrounds per capita (ninth).
A low rate of violent crime (12th) and the quality of the school system (13th) also helped the city’s ranking.
