The Building and Development Standards Department serves three functions: planning and zoning; building and codes; and engineering and storm water. The staff is prepared to assist you with information about commercial and residential building codes, permitting, zoning issues, and land development. The South Main Street office also houses the City's planning commission and zoning board of appeals, as well as nuisance abatement.
The City Engineer and the Storm Water Division are currently located

The City of Greer Fire Department encompasses the divisions of both fire and rescue, as well as emergency first responder. The department ranks among the top four percent in South Carolina, having earned a Class 2 ISO rating during its 2007 inspection.

Municipal Court serves as the judicial branch of our local government. Judge Henry J. Mims and the Municipal Court staff employ their efforts towards fair and effective adjudication of state and city ordinances. Livablilty Court, generally held on the third Wednesday of each month, focuses on the enforcing of the City Nuisance Ordinance to ensure a better quality of life for the citizens of Greer.
