Registration is underway
for Citizens Police Academy


The Greer Police Department is seeking individuals interested in learning more about the inner workings of a police department ad community policing as participants in the department's third Citizens Police Academy.

The 10-week program is designed to give the public a working knowledge of the Greer Police Department. Classes begin on March 25 at the Greer Police Department located at 102 S. Main St., and will be held Thursdays from 6:30-9:00 p.m. All applicants must be over the age of 18 and pass a background check.

Topics included in the program include patrol procedures (including a ride along), dispatch, detention, community outreach, criminal investigation,school resource officers, and community outreach..

“We hope the graduates of the Citizens Police Academy become more aware and better informed about how the police department operates and will encourage friends, coworkers, and family members to join the Greer Police Department in this rewarding program,” Lt. Jim Holcombe said.
