City of Greer's Seifert elected president
of state finance association

David Seifert, Director of Finance and Information Technology for the City of Greer, has been elected president of the South Carolina Municipal Finance Officers, Clerks, and Treasurers Association (MFOCTA).

The association, affiliated with the Municipal Association of South Carolina, offers training programs to nearly 200 financial officers, clerks, and treasurers at cities and towns across the state. The organization also offers a listserve to its members to discuss topical matters and to offer assistance, and is a co-sponsor of the Municipal Clerks and Treasurers Institute.

Seifert has been a member of MFOCTA since 1997 and a member of its board since 2004. He served as vice president before being installed as president of the association on Oct. 28. Among his new duties is presiding over the board of directors, maintaining contact with members about issues affecting their municipalities, and helping to plan and execute association meetings.

Seifert joined the City of Greer in 1997 and currently oversees all aspects of the city’s financial and information technology programs. The City of Greer has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting every year since Seifert joined the staff.

“MFOCTA is an invaluable resource to finance officers, clerks, and treasurers in South Carolina. Because these are positions in which we can never stop learning, it’s gratifying to hear positive comments from both newcomers and those who have been in the organization for years,” Seifert said. “Being involved in the organization is a natural extension of my professional interests and it’s rewarding to be able to help advance MFOCTA so it can effectively serve its members and I am very humbled and honored to be chosen to lead this elite group.”
