Fire Chief Chris Harvey drove the Chevy Southern
from GFD Headquarters to its current storage location.
The 1941 truck was purchased new by the City of Greer.
Manufactured by Southern Fire Apparatus of Roanoke, Va.,
it was completed in October of 1941 as indicated on the plate.

Custom seating was installed when the truck became
a parade vehicle. The bench seat covers the truck's gas tank.
GFD hopes to renovate the truck for use in parades and special events,
beginning with the department's 100th anniversary in 2014.
