Redistricting in the City of Greer moved forward as an ad hoc committee of City Council unveiled four possible maps and planned for more discussion and public input.
Mayor Rick Danner and councilmen Wayne Griffin and Wryley Bettis visited the Office of Research and Statistics for the South Carolina Budget and Control Board in Columbia to examine ways to bring the city's six districts back into balance following growth over the last decade.
Danner gave an overview of the four maps that council will discuss in depth at a workshop session at its next meeting on Nov. 8. In addition to inviting members of the community to that workshop, council also planned a public hearing and first reading on the redistricting ordinance for its Nov. 22 meeting. Both meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers (Hall A) at Greer City Hall.
