Citizens Fire Academy

The City of Greer Fire Department hosted its first Citizens Fire Academy in the Fall of 2016.  It was a free eight-week course designed to introduce residents to the functions and daily operations of the fire service.

The academy provided both classroom and hands-on training, giving participants a fun and safe behind-the-scenes look at what is means to be a firefighter.  Participants toured the city fire stations and dispatch center, met its firefighters and 911 personnel, tried on personal protective equipment, extinguished a fire, participated on a ride-along and learned CPR from professional fire fighters.

Class sessions will be held at Station 1 (Headquarters) located at 103 W Poinsett St. with the exception of one Saturday/Sunday session held at Station 2, the department's training facility, located at 1985 Hood Rd.
