Works by student artists will be among the highlights of the 2011 Greer Memorial Hospital Freedom Blast.  The City of Greer has announced a mural competition sponsored by Langford Electric open to young artists, with winners to have murals displayed at the city's Independence Weekend celebration.

Each entry must be inspired by or represent a patriotic theme (military theme, July 4th activities, etc), and may not have been entered in any previous City of Greer art competition. Submissions must be in color (pencil or paint only) and must be submitted on 12”x8” landscape (horizontal) paper.

There is no cost to enter the competition.

Winning entries selected by a jury will be reproduced on a mural to be displayed at Greer Memorial Hospital Freedom Blast on July 2, 2011.  Winning artists will receive a cash prize and will be invited to assist with the murals.

All entries must include a completed copy of the entry form (download below) attached to the back of the artwork.  Entries will only be accepted at the City of Greer Business Offices (main entry on the Line Street side of Greer City Hall) May 16-18 during regular business hours (8 a.m. until 5 p.m.).

For more information, please contact Greer Cultural Arts Supervisor Robin Byouk  at 848-5383 or City of Greer Events Supervisor Laurie Campbell at 968-7005.
