The detectives perform a critical role in determining what has occurred and also in identifying the responsible person(s). This is accomplished by carefully documenting all conditions of a crime scene, recognizing all relevant physical evidence, conducting interviews and additional research. The ability to recognize and properly collect evidence is often times critical to both solving crimes and prosecuting violent criminals.

A General Investigator's function is the investigation of violent crimes and UCR Part I offenses and follow-up investigations.

All investigators are trained in Forensics, Crime Scene Processing and Crime Scene Preservation.

The Juvenile Investigator's objective is the investigation of crime which is a direct result of juvenile delinquency and the overall investigation of juvenile related crimes perpetrated by both adults and children.

The Narcotics / Vice Team has been assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division.  The broad goal of the Narcotics / Vice Team, is to dedicate the majority of their time to Patrol Based Initiatives.  These Patrol Based Initiatives focus on Narcotics / Vice operations and Selective Enforcement on identified problems.

All Investigators are on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for any serious or violent crime.
