Curbside e-waste collection ends July 1
Beginning July 1, e-waste will be banned from South Carolina landfills.

What does that mean to you?

The new state law means the City of Greer cannot pick up any e-waste during its weekly curbside trash collection.  This includes such items as televisions, computer monitors, printers, and desktop, notebook, and tablet computers.

Because these items may contain cadmium, lead, mercury, and other toxic materials that can be hazardous to human health and the environment, residents are now required by the State of South Carolina to recycle electronics.

The law also requires all computer, printer, and television manufacturers to provide collection programs after July 1, 2011.  Many retailers will also offer collection programs.

A convenient option is to take e-waste to the City of Greer Recycling Center located at 315 Buncombe Street.  The collection center makes recycling and the disposal of e-waste easy and convenient for City of Greer residents.
