GovDeals Auction

Bargain hunters can shops for everything from cars to chainsaws in the City of Greer's online auction now underway on GovDeals.

The online liquidation site is used once or twice a year on average for items that are no longer used or have been confiscated, according to Municipal Clerk Tammy Duncan.

"It's a benefit for the city to bring in revenue for these items," Duncan said.  "We've learned over the years that nearly any item has value to someone out there.  It's rare that an item goes through an auction and doesn't receive any bids."

The current auction, which closes Monday at 7 p.m., includes automobiles, scooters, playground equipment, air tanks, lighting fixtures, chainsaws, bicycles, and more.

"We draw items from all city departments, so there is a wide variety of items available," Duncan said.

First time users must register at the GovDeals.com site in order to bid on any item.  Non-registered users may browse any auction.
