Part-Time Recreation Leader

The City of Greer is seeking a Part-Time Recreation Leader in the Recreation Department.

Responsibilities: Assists in the planning and implementation of various programs, including Athletic Division, Recreation Division, Cultural Arts Division and Events Division activities; Assists in promoting recreation center programs and providing information to the public; Clerical responsibilities involve completing reports, activity schedules, filing, copying, correspondence, etc.

Job Requirements: High School Diploma/GED supplemented by two years of responsible experience in recreation programming or general administration or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid state issued driver’s license.

Hours:  Approximately 25 hours per week; Hours and days will vary; Weekend, evening and holiday work required.

Salary:  $11.84/hour.

Building Inspectors

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for two (2) Building Inspectors.  The position under general supervision performs skilled work inspecting buildings and structures under construction to determine and ensure compliance with City’s building codes.  Work involves examining planes submitted for permits to determine conformity with regulations, and conducting various inspections for compliance including re-inspections, final inspections, zoning related requirement inspections, etc. Reports to the Building Official.

Responsibilities: Inspects building and structures that are under construction to determine compliance with the City building codes as required for the promotion of consumer/public safety and welfare; inspects footings, slabs, foundation, beams, columns, roofing, concrete, energy codes, etc.  Conducts various other inspections to ensure code compliance including re-inspections, zoning related requirement, signs, pools, trailers, fire damage, land use, etc.  Reads and reviews plans for code compliance as required; receives and reviews architectural drawings to ensure code compliance; conducts final inspections.  Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals involved in the operations of the department including contractors, property owners, etc. in order to explain and interpret codes and regulations regarding construction, alteration and repair of buildings.  Prepares and maintains necessary reports of inspections made; prepares and processes monthly reports of total inspections performed.

Job requirements: Vocational/Technical school training in building construction and design with a minimum of two (2) years building construction or inspections; or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Must possess, or obtain within 24 months of hire a SC Building Codes Council registration as a Combination Inspector through the International Code Council with certifications in building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical. At least two certifications must be obtained within 12 months of hire; must have a valid state issued driver’s license.

Hours:  Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM

Salary:  Grade 110 – Salary dependent upon experience; minimum salary $35,549 year.

Part-Time
Events Assistant

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Events Assistant in the Parks and Recreation Department.  This position will assist with the functions held at the Municipal Complex and Parks. 

Responsibilities:  Assists with the coordination of activities and events for the facility/park, which involves setting up, decorating and executing parties and events; assists in the preparation for the event to include renting facilities, ensuring cleanliness and that rules and regulations are followed by participants; involves repetitious lifting and moving of tables and chairs in set-up and take-down of event; Interacts with the public by responding to phone calls, taking messages, routing calls, providing facility/park tours, greeting visitors, providing directions; Provides information to the public regarding fees, availability and requirements for use; may assist with the coordination of the events calendar;  Maintains records and files on activities and events, receives and receipts payments; Assists with Events Division inventory and related supplies and records.

Job requirements: High School diploma/GED. Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license

Hours:  Hours will vary depending upon schedule of events; primarily Thursday through Sunday and evenings; approximately 10 - 15 hours per week.

Salary: $11.84 hour.

Part-Time Ministerial Recorder

(Administrative Judge)

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Ministerial Recorder in the Municipal Court.

Responsibilities:  Receives warrant requests from officers and determines if a warrant should be issued based on  the Code (Probable Cause) and granting or denying the request;  Sets bonds according to established guidelines; completing the necessary paperwork;  Arraigns individuals arrested within the City of Greer to ensure all rights are provided;   Sets court dates for Municipal Court cases;  Determines if accused should be committed to confinement based on the Code, guidelines and previous record and completes applicable paperwork;  Performs general administrative duties including data entry, typing, filing, etc.

Job Requirements:  Must have a minimum of five years of experience in a criminal justice or legal field;  Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related area; Must be certified by the State of South Carolina as a certified judge or must obtain certification within the first year of employment.

Hours of work:  Rotating every third weekend –on-call with set hours Saturdays from 9:00 am to noon and 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm and Sundays from 9:00 am to noon and 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm and rotating holidays.

Salary:  $15.51 hour minimum salary; DOE; Grade 6.
