Uniform Police Officer I

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Uniform Patrol Officer I in the Police Department.

Responsibilities: Responding to various types of police calls, patrolling assigned areas, making arrests, handling community policing, working as jailor as needed, appearing in municipal court, general sessions, and family court as necessary, preparing reports and records, etc.

Job requirements: High School diploma or GED and at least 21 years of age.  Must be able to successfully complete (or be currently certified by) the S. C. Criminal Justice Academy; Must be able to work 12-hour shifts; Must have a valid state issued driver’s license.

Hours:  12 hour shifts

Salary:  Grade 5 – Entry salary $30,156.

Administrative Assistant

The City of Greer is seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant in the Fire Department.  This position performs complex administrative and organizational support to the Fire Chief.

Responsibilities: Answers telephone and greets visitors; directs calls or visitors and gives program information based on the type of request; Receives and delivers mail;  Compiles information and/or statistics; reviews and verifies documents; Serves as liaison to provide information, discuss issues/concerns, or to resolve complaints relating to the area of responsibility; Manages special projects as assigned, providing periodic status reports to the Chief; Performs accounting tasks; Assists with budget preparation and monitoring; Coordinates office records; Screens telephone calls and visitors to the Fire Chief’s office; provides routine and sensitive information, resolves problems/complaints or routes persons to appropriate department/personnel; makes travel arrangements for the Chief and coordinates special events and meetings. Conducts office supply inventory and maintains the supply room; makes calls for equipment repairs as needed; Assists the Fire Chief and other senior management personnel with development of policies and procedures; Performs clerical tasks; Attends staff and other professional meetings and conferences as directed to represent the Chief and/or to take and transcribe minutes;; Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.

Job Requirements: Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field and minimum of 5 years’ experience in a responsible administrative position; Experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access are necessary;  Must be able to deal effectively, courteously and professionally with the public in handling inquiries and communicating information.

Hours:  Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; additional hours as scheduled.

Salary:  Grade 4 – Salary dependent upon experience; minimum salary $28,185 year.

Events Assistant
(part-time in rentals)

The City of Greer
is currently accepting applications for Multiple Part-Time Events Assistants in the Parks and Recreation Department.  This position will assist with the functions held at the City of Greer Events Center.

:  Assists with the coordination of activities and events for the facility/park, which involves setting up, decorating and executing parties and events; assists in the preparation for the event to include renting facilities, ensuring cleanliness and that rules and regulations are followed by participants; involves repetitious lifting and moving of tables and chairs in set-up and take-down of event; Interacts with the public by providing facility/park tours, greeting visitors, providing directions; Provides information to the public regarding fees, availability and requirements for use; may assist with the coordination of the events calendar;  Maintains records and files on activities and events; Assists with Events Division inventory and related supplies and records.

Job requirements:
High School diploma/GED. Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

:  Hours will vary depending upon schedule of events; primarily Thursday through Sunday and evenings; hours dependent on event schedules.

Salary: $10.73 hour.
