Certified Firefighter

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Certified Firefighter in our Fire Department.

Responsibilities: Responds to fire, rescue and medical calls; performs inspections of equipment and station; reviews pre-fire plans; performs equipment tests, and prepares and reviews reports and documents.  Reports to a Fire Lieutenant.

Job Requirements: High School diploma or GED.  Must be a certified NFPA/IFSAC Firefighter I and Firefighter II. Must possess, or obtain within 12 months of hire National Registry EMT – B.  Must possess a valid state issued drivers’ license.

Hours:  24 hour shifts, rotating every third day.

Salary:  Entry salary $29,320 – Grade 106; DOE and credentials.  Additional education incentive of $1,000 for EMT – B.

Telecommunicator

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for Telecommunicators in the Fire and Police Departments.

Responsibilities: Answers 911 emergency and non-emergency telephone lines; dispatches calls to responding police and fire units; monitors alarms and other telecommunications equipment; operates SLED/NCIC computer in order to access information and prepares various reports and maintains communication logs.

Job requirements: High School diploma or GED.  Must be able to successfully complete the E911 training class and become certified by the National Crime Information Center, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) and Priority Police Dispatch within the first year of employment.  Must be able to successfully complete a two-week training class at the SC Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia.  Must be able to work 12 hour shifts

Hours:  12 hours shifts: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Salary:  Grade 106 – Salary dependent on experience. Entry salary is $14.10 hour.

Events / Rentals Assistants (part-time)


Position will remain open until filled

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for Multiple Part-Time Events Assistants in the Parks and Recreation Department.  This position will assist with the functions held at the City of Greer Events Center. 

Responsibilities:  Assists with the coordination of activities and events for the facility/park, which involves setting up, decorating and executing parties and events; assists in the preparation for the event to include renting facilities, ensuring cleanliness and that rules and regulations are followed by participants; involves repetitious lifting and moving of tables and chairs in set-up and take-down of event; Interacts with the public by providing facility/park tours, greeting visitors, providing directions; Provides information to the public regarding fees, availability and requirements for use; may assist with the coordination of the events calendar;  Maintains records and files on activities and events; Assists with Events Division inventory and related supplies and records.

Job requirements: High School diploma/GED. Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Hours:  Hours will vary depending upon schedule of events; primarily Thursday through Sunday and evenings; hours dependent on event schedules.

Salary: $11.87 hour
