Groundskeeper Assistant (part-time)

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Groundskeeper Assistant in the Parks and Recreation Department.  This part-time position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of parks and recreational facilities and grounds. 

Responsibilities:  Performs ground maintenance such as mowing and trimming lawns, trimming shrubbery and trees, performs weed control, picks up litter and other refuse, rakes leaves, etc.; Performs landscaping activities including erosion control; Maintains the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the restrooms in public recreational facilities; Assists the Events Staff with set-up and clean-up of scheduled events; Performs custodial work as necessary including trash disposal, cleaning floors, vacuuming, etc. prior to and following scheduled events; May assist with various minor repairs to recreational facilities to ensure proper operation and security, which involves mending fences, performing light carpentry and masonry work, minor installation and repair of fixtures, plumbing, etc.; Utilizes various tools and equipment/machinery in the performance of the job such as tractors, trucks, power tools, carpenter tools, paint sprayers, chain saws, floor equipment, mechanic tools, etc.

Job requirements: High School diploma/GED, self-motivated and experience in grounds and/or facility maintenance.  Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license.

Hours:  Approximately 18-20 hours per week; primarily weekend hours – Friday through Sunday; Hours will vary based on event schedules. 

Salary:  $10.20 hour.

 Records  Clerk (Police Department)

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Records Clerk in the Police Department.

Responsibilities: Maintains records which involves proofreading reports for errors, filing reports, summarizing reports and entering into the computer, maintaining various logs, checking criminal histories upon request, recording dockets and tickets for appropriate court, administering ledger and filing dockets and tickets, issuing departmental books, processing tickets and dockets after court, confirming payments of fines, completing NRVC’s, transferring dispositions onto correct form, updating identification packet, maintaining various complex filing systems, completing general sessions paperwork and transfer warrants.  Acts as a receptionist which includes answering phones, routing calls, screening calls, taking messages, providing assistance to callers and in person, greeting visitors and providing directions. 

Job requirements: High School diploma or GED and 2 years of administrative experience.  Must have a valid state issued driver’s license.

Grade 3 –Salary $24,692

 Uniform Patrol Officer I

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Uniform Patrol Officer I.

Responsibilities: Responding to various types of police calls, patrolling assigned areas, making arrests, handling community policing, working as jailor as needed, appearing in municipal court, general sessions, and family court as necessary, preparing reports and records, etc. 

Job requirements: High School diploma or GED and at least 21 years of age.  Must be able to successfully complete (or be currently certified by) the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy; Must be able to work 12-hour shifts; must have a valid state issued driver’s license.

Grade 5 – Entry salary $28,271 for trainee; DOE for certified officer.

 Events Assistants (part-time)

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for multiple Part-Time Events Assistants in the Parks and Recreation Department.  This position will assist with the functions held at the Municipal Complex and Parks. 

Responsibilities:  Assists with the coordination of activities and events for the facility/park, which involves setting up, decorating and executing parties and events; assists in the preparation for the event to include renting facilities, ensuring cleanliness and that rules and regulations are followed by participants; involves repetitious lifting and moving of tables and chairs in set-up and take-down of event; Interacts with the public by responding to phone calls, taking messages, routing calls, providing facility/park tours, greeting visitors, providing directions; Provides information to the public regarding fees, availability and requirements for use; may assist with the coordination of the events calendar;  Maintains records and files on activities and events, receives and receipts payments; Assists with Events Division inventory and related supplies and records.

Job requirements: High School diploma/GED. Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Hours:  Hours will vary depending upon schedule of events; primarily Thursday through Sunday and evenings; hours dependent on event schedules.

Salary: $10.20 hour.
