Public Services Worker II / Building Maintenance

The City of Greer is accepting applications for a Public Services Worker II/Building Maintenance in our Public Services Department.

Responsibilities: Various labor duties involving cleaning streets, trimming limbs, cutting grass, and repairing sidewalks, picking up trash and debris and cleaning ditches and drains, etc.  General building maintenance which involves electrical, plumbing, mechanical, construction and equipment repairs.  Paints, plasters and other needed repairs to walls, doors, etc.  Monitors A/C and service as needed.  Will operate variety of equipment and tools.

Job Requirements:  Must have a high school diploma or GED.  Minimum two (2) years of experience in labor work.  Must have working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical and construction.   Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license and able to pass drug screen and criminal/credit background check.

Salary: Minimum salary $26,445 (Grade 103); dependent on experience.

Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, M-F; hours will vary at times due to weather, City festivals, etc.

Ministerial Recorder (Administrative Judge)

Application Deadline: August 26, 2016

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Ministerial Recorder in the Municipal Court.

Responsibilities: Receives warrant requests from officers and determines if a warrant should be issued based on the Code (probable cause) and granting or denying the request; sets bonds according to established guidelines; completing the necessary paperwork; arraigns individuals arrested on City charges to ensure all rights are provided; sets court dates for Municipal Court cases; determines if accused should be committed to confinement based on the Code, guidelines and previous record and completes applicable paperwork; performs general administrative duties including data entry, typing, filing, etc.

Job Requirements: Must have a minimum of five years of experience in a criminal justice or legal field;  Prefer an Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related area;  Must be certified by the SC Court Administration Association as a certified judge or must obtain certification within the first year of employment.

Hours:  10:00 PM to 6:00 AM Monday through Friday.

Salary:  Grade 109 – Salary dependent on experience. $33,941 minimum salary.

Events / Rentals Assistants (part-time)


Position will remain open until filled

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for Multiple Part-Time Events Assistants in the Parks and Recreation Department.  This position will assist with the functions held at the City of Greer Events Center. 

Responsibilities:  Assists with the coordination of activities and events for the facility/park, which involves setting up, decorating and executing parties and events; assists in the preparation for the event to include renting facilities, ensuring cleanliness and that rules and regulations are followed by participants; involves repetitious lifting and moving of tables and chairs in set-up and take-down of event; Interacts with the public by providing facility/park tours, greeting visitors, providing directions; Provides information to the public regarding fees, availability and requirements for use; may assist with the coordination of the events calendar;  Maintains records and files on activities and events; Assists with Events Division inventory and related supplies and records.

Job requirements: High School diploma/GED. Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Hours:  Hours will vary depending upon schedule of events; primarily Thursday through Sunday and evenings; hours dependent on event schedules.

Salary: $11.87 hour
