Municipal Election set for July 24
Greer City Council unanimously approved Ordinance 1-2012 at its March 13 meeting, setting July 24 as the date for the city's municipal election. Filing for the election begins on March 21.
The election, originally scheduled for November 8, 2011, was postponed by the S.C. Department of Justice at the request of council while the city conducted its redistricting process.
With an approved map of the new districts now in place, voters may now vote on July 24 for three city council seats (Districts 1, 3, and 5) and the at-large mayor and commissioner of public works seats.
Anyone wishing to file as a candidate for one of the offices may do so at Greer City Hall beginning at noon on March 21, 2012. Filing closes at noon on April 20, 2012. Questions may be addressed to Municipal Clerk Tammy Duncan at (864) 801-2027.
Qualifications and voter information may be found on the Municipal Elections web page (see link below).
