CHEERLEADING

Cheer for Greer manages the city's cheerleading program. Girls may begin to cheer at age six (6) and continue through age (14). The girls cheer for the recreation football teams from September through November, and some of the girls continue to cheer in competitions conducted throughout the year.

Squads usually practice twice a week before the season and then once a week in addition to one game during the season. Competition teams will practice more because those teams require more technical skills than recreation cheerleading. The cheerleading board of directors and coaches are all volunteers devoted to helping girls improve their skills.
