Employment Requirements for the following positions:

Police Officer

 

To become a Police Officer with the Greer Police Department you must meet the following qualifications:

 

  1. Candidate must at minimum have a high school diploma, previous law enforcement, military experience, or be currently certified law enforcement officer or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Minimum of 21 years of age
  3. No criminal history.
  4. Valid South Carolina driver’s license with limited violations.
  5. Drug-free background
  6. Satisfactory background, including financial stability.
  7. Pass a psychological exam, drug testing and staff interviews
  8. Successfully complete training at the Criminal Justice Academy.

Detention Officer

 

To become a Detention Officer with the Greer Police Department you must meet the following qualifications:

 

  1. Candidate must at minimum have a high school diploma, military experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. No criminal history.
  3. Valid South Carolina driver’s license with limited violations.
  4. Drug-free background
  5. Satisfactory background, including financial stability.
  6. Pass a psychological exam, drug testing and staff interviews
  7. Successfully complete training at the Criminal Justice Academy.

Telecommunicator

 

To become a Telecommunicator with the Greer Police Department you must meet the following qualifications:

 

  1. Candidates must at minimum have a high school diploma or equivalent with one to two years of experience in communications, data entry, public relations, or any equivalent combinations of education and experience. 
  2. No criminal history
  3. Valid South Carolina driver’s license with limited violations
  4. Drug-free background
  5. Satisfactory background, including financial stability
  6. Pass a psychological exam, drug testing and staff interviews.
