The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for instructors to teach classes over the holidays and into the new year. We woud like to be able to offer several themed craft classes to compliment the holdiay seasons. Tis the season for late night runs to the store to pick up last minute gifts.
But how are you going to get those final things on your long list checked off while making sure that your kids are safe and sound? Let the City of Greer Parks and Recreation Department help wipe away that holiday stress! On Friday, December 18, the department will hold a special “Parent’s Night Out” at the Victor Gym located at 108 South Line Street. From 6:30 - 10:30 p.m., children will enjoy dinner, participate in games and crafts, and have lots of fun.
The cost is $10.00 per child for City of Greer residents
and $12.00 per child for non-residents.

"KIDS Christmas Fun Day" :
On Monday, December 21st, the Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a one day only, "Kids Christmas Fun Day"at the Victor Gym from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. This will allow parents to get that last minute shopping in before the big day. Kids will enjoy games, crafts, food and more. The fee is $35.00 per child and will cover their supplies and food for the day. To register, call Wes Harbin at 848-2192. Space is limited to 25 kids so sign up today. Deadline to register is Friday, December 18th.
"CRAFT CORNER" Craft Classes:
For all of you crafters out there, we are excited to be able to offer crafting classes for adults and seniors in December. We will have two classes during the month of December at the Victor Gym on 108 South Line Street in Greer. These classes will jump start your Holiday Season and get those crafty juices flowing. The classes will be taught by Paula Marcellus from the Retirement Resource Group and will be FREE of charge. The first class will be taught on Wednesday, December 9th from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm and personal greeting cards and gift tags will be made. The second class will be taught on Wednesday, December 16th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm and "Holiday Wall Art" will be made. If time permits in either session, we will be making Christmas Treat Bags for the Recreation Department's After School programs! Class sizes will be limited to 20 people per class so sign up today before they fill up! Wii Bowling & Sports Leagues:
Break out the funky bowling shoes and shine up your Wii contollers for the non-stop action of our brand new Wii Bowling & Sports League. We will be taking registrations for the league beginning on October 26th, 2009 and will continue to take registrations through November 30th, 2009. The league will begin on December 8th, 2009 and run every Tuesday and Thursday (except Dec. 24th and Dec. 31st) through January 14th, 2010. The league will be held at the Victor Gym social hall on 108 South Line Street in Greer from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm. The league's registration fee will be $10.00 for individual players and $35.00 for a team of four. Santa is waiting for your letter...
and to write a personal response!
The City of Greer Parks and Recreation Department will again deliver letters to Santa -- and will make sure children receive a personal reply! "Santa's Mailbag" is an easy way to deliver children's letters to Santa. Parents and children may drop off or mail letters to the City of Greer Parks and Recreation Department administrative offices at 446 Pennsylvania Ave.(Greer, SC 29650) between November 17 and December 15. A loose stamp and the child's return address mut be included to receive a reply. Please feel free to call 848-2192 with any questions.
Senior Exercise Classes:
The “Seniors Out and Around” (S.O.A.R) program will be offering a new set of exercise classes beginning on January 5th and running every other Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 am – 10:00 am at the Victor Gym on 108 South Line Street in Greer.
