 *The Parks ad Recreation Department is seeking instuctors to teach classes in our facilities.  We would like to be able to offer several craft classes for the holidays as well as classes year round.  If you have a talent and would like to share it with the citizens of Greer, please contact Wes Harbin at 848-2192 if you are interested in teacing classes with us.

 Summer Adventure Camps 2009:

Registration for camps begin on March 24th at 8:00 am.  You can register at our offices on 446 Pennsylvania Avenue or online via the link below.  Camps being offered this year include:

Needmore Adventure Camp
"Back to Reality: Reality TV Comes to Life"

 

JUNE 8th—AUGUST 7th

(CLOSED JUNE 29th—JULY 3rd)

7:30 AM UNTIL 6:00 PM

@ the Needmore Community Center

Ages 6-14

Cost for Camp is $35.00 per week per child

 

**All parents must present us with a copy of their 2007 and 2008 tax returns in order to get the grant rate or they will not have a spot held for camp.**

Senior Exercise Classes    

The Greer Recreation Department and the Arthritis Foundation are offering exercise classes taught by a certified instructor beginning on Tuesday, February 24th and Wednesday the 25th from 8:30 am - 10:30 am at the Victor Gym on 108 South Line Street in Greer. The first class will be an instructional class with ice breakers and paperwork. The classes will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week for a six week period. The exercises are designed and developed by the Arthritis Foundation to improve mobility and help those suffering from the many forms of arthritis. The routines will be low impact and participants may move at their preferred pace. There is no cost for this program and it is open to ages 55 and up.

 


 

  "SHUTTERBUGS"

The City of Greer Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a photography contest that captures the “Beauty of Greer” beginning on February 16th, 2009. Submissions will be accepted Monday through Friday from March 1st— May 1st at the Greer Parks and Recreation offices on 446 Pennsylvania Avenue in Greer from 8:00 am—5:00 pm. Submissions should include the information form and photo release along with the matted photo. The contest is open to all ages and the winners will have their photos turned into art work to be displayed at a City facility. Photos should reflect appropriate images. Any images deemed inappropriate will be disqualified and returned to the entrant. Forms can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation offices or downloaded from our website www.cityofgreer.org.

 


 

 

PIANO PERFORMERS:

Piano classes and tutoring services provided through this one of a kind program.  The classes meet every Monday afternoon from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Tryon Street Recreation Center on 226 Oakland Avenue, Greer, SC 29650.  For more information on this program, please contact KAY YOUNG at 542-4246.

 

 


 

  Creative Advancement After School Programs:

A unique after school program is being offered through the Greer Recreation Department by Creative Advancement.  The program is being offered Monday though Friday 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Victor Park Gym.  For more information regarding this program, please contact Dan Dudley at 423-7555.
