Village Hospital sponsors Black History Month events
Village Hospital, a division of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, is sposnsoring two programs at the Events Center at Greer City Hall in recognition of Black History Month.
Celebrate Black History Month through music, drama, and the written word during a program featuring some of the Upstate's talented young people at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10.
In addition to performances, the winners of the Black History Month Essay Contest for middle school and high school students will be recognized. The contest, sponsored by the City of Greer and Griffin Insurance, annually invites students to write about African-American heroes who have helped change the American landscape or influenced their own lives. The program is free and open to the public.
The semi-formal Village Hospital Black History Gala is planned for 7 p.m. on Feb. 17 and includes an evening of music, dancing, and lite refreshments to celebrate the many historical accomplishments of African-Americans. Individual tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Greer City Hall (301 East Poinsett Street) or the City of Greer Operations Center (446 Pennsylvania Avenue) weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Greer CPW is also a contributing sponsor to the Black History Month evemts.
