1.  How much is admission to Freedom Blast?

There is no admission charge to Greer Memorial Hospital Freedom Blast.  The City of Greer and festival sponsors have made it possible for all visitors to enjoy the concerts and numerous activities free of charge, so it's possible to enjoy the festival at no cost.  You may want to bring a few dollars to purchase food items and drinks from the on-site vendors.  There also is a $5 charge for unlimited fun on the inflatables -- the only activity in the Kids' Zone with a charge.

2.  Can I bring a cooler with food and drinks?

It depends on your definition of cooler.  Large hard-sided (plastic or metal) coolers are not allowed on-site during the event.  Small soft-sided coolers are allowed.  Please note that glass containers of any type are prohibitied.  The easiest way to enjoy Greer Memorial Hospital Freedom Blast is to purchase snacks from on-site vendors.

3.  My dog loves festivals.  Is he welcome at Freedom Blast?

The City of Greer loves dogs, but add animals to a park full of people and food and it's a combination that could quickly create a bad situation.  By city ordinance, for the safety of both people and animals, pets are not permitted during public events.  Let Fido enjoy air conditioning at home while you enjoy the festival.

4.  Where can I park?

More than 600 striped parking spaces are available at no cost in city parking lots located a short walk from Greer City Park.  Makeshift parking areas, such as the field opposite the Line Street side of Greer City Hall will be made available during Greer Memorial Hospital Freedom Blast.  Greer City Park's location makes it an easy walk from anywhere in the central business district.  Please use common sense and do not block roads or driveways.  Also, be aware that roads immediately surrounding Victor Park may be closed for safety reasons because it is the launch site for the fireworks display.  City of Greer Police will help direct traffic following the fireworks to clear traffic as quickly and orderly as possible.

A downloadable map of the Greer Station area identifying public parking lots and after-hours parking at businesses is available on the Greer Station website.

5.  Are restrooms available at City Park?

In addition to permanent restrooms at Greer City Park, portable toilets are made available during Greer Memorial Hospital Freedom Blast.  Check the event map for locations.

6.  Can I smoke in the park?

Unless you're referring to your dancing skills during the concerts, smoking at the festival is restricted to one of the designated smoking areas listed on the events map.

7.  If we arrive late, do my kids still have to pay full price for the inflatables?

Wristbands for the inflatables are sold for $5 each regardless of when they are purchased.  It's advisable for families to arrive early enough for children to take full advantage of their time on the inflatables.  Please note that although the inflatables will close at 9:30 p.m., no new participants will be admitted to the lines after 8:30 p.m. to accommodate those already in line.  Please plan accordingly.

8.  What if it rains?

Greer Memorial Hospital Freedom Blast will go on rain or shine.  Activities may be delayed or cancelled if lightning or other safety concerns arise.

9.  Is there reserved seating for the concerts?

All seating is on a first-come first-served basis.  Aside from the Amphitheater, benches, and swings around the fountain, there is no fixed seating in the upper section of the park.  Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the festivities in comfort.

10.  Where is the best viewing spot for the fireworks?

The fireworks will be launched from the Victor Park ballfield and the area around that park will be restricted for safety reasons, but its central location means that viewing will be excellent throughout Greer Station and along Highway 101 South.  Greer City Park is an excellent spot to hear the concerts, watch the tribute to the Armed Forces, and then enjoy the fireworks.

11.  Is first aid available if necessary?

Greer Memorial Hospital's commitment to Freedom Blast doesn't end with its title sponsorship.  Between volunteers from the hospital and the City of Greer's EMTs, any minor medical concern can be handled on-site at the Greer Memorial Hospital's First Aid Tent or at the First Aid Station located in City Hall.  The most prevalent problems during the event's first two years have been heat stroke and dehydration.  Visitors are reminded to dress for hot weather, use sunscreen and/or wear a wide-brimmed hat, take frequent breaks in the shade, and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.  Water misters are available around the park for a quick cool down.
