Rick Danner is serving his third term as mayor of the City of Greer. His tenure has covered one of the most progressive periods in the city’s history, including unprecedented industrial and commercial growth and construction of the city’s magnificent new Municipal Complex, which includes a three-story City Hall, a Police and Courts Complex, and the 12-acre Greer City Park to serve the community.

Mayor Danner is recognized as a leader at the state level, as delegates at the Municipal Association of South Carolina’s 68th Annual Meeting unanimously elected him as president of the MASC Board of Directors for 2008-09.

A native of Knoxville Tenn., his family moved to South Carolina, where he completed high school in Florence and earned his B.S. from Clemson University. He worked as a landscape designer for Harold Weldon and Associates in Cheraw, S.C. and Oconee Nurseries in Greenville, S.C. before opening Danner Landscape Management Inc. He owned and operated the full-service landscape design and construction firm for more than 20 year before joining the administration at Greer State Bank in 2002. He currently serves as the Vice President of Human Resources and Security.

Mayor Danner is married to Greer native Rita Howell Danner. They are the parents of two sons, Sam and Jacob, and reside in downtown Greer where they attend church and are active in community activities.
