Animal Control

Responsibilities

The Animal Control division of the Greer Police Department is responsible for enforcing legal ordinances and laws governing animals in the City.

Animal Control Officer Scott Ruttgers investigate cases of animal nuisance, abuse, and abandonment and responds to incidents reported by citizens. The division ensures the medical needs of rescued animals and prosecutes owners in the event of neglect or harm to the animals.

Shelter

The City of Greer operates a shelter for the safety of animals collected by Animal Control and works closely with the Greenville Humane Society and the Spartanburg Humane Society to locate loving homes for unclaimed animals.
