The holiday weekend begins Friday evening with the Tree Lighting ceremony at Greer City Park. Beginning at 5 p.m. on the amphitheater stage and throughout the park, guests will enjoy entertainment from a variety of community groups. Booths allowing children to create free Christmas ornaments, decorate Christmas cookies, and make reindeer food will line the promenade. Donations will be accepted by Greer Relief at a S’mores tent. Other food options will be available for purchase.
Families will have an opportunity to capture memories at no cost at the TapSnap Photo Booth. A variety of inflatables awaits younger guests on the City Park lawn.
Mayor Rick Danner will extend a welcome at 7 p.m. and the guest of honor, Santa Claus, will arrive shortly after to help the mayor light the City Christmas Tree.
Following the tree lighting, Santa will visit Trade Street for photos and to visit with families.
Saturday morning leads him back to the Cannon Centre for three sold out sessions of Breakfast with Santa. Ticket holders are asked to double-check their sessions for accuracy..
Sunday brings the Greer Christmas Parade at 2:30 p.m. to benefit Greer Relief. The 1.1 mile route will begin at W. Poinsett St. and Memorial Dr., taking a left turn on N. Main St. and ending at Cunningham Dr. More than 90 units are expected in this year’s parade, which will conclude with Santa’s float.
