Road Preservation

Paving roads is a large expense for any government agency, so the City of Greer Engineering Department is working to extend the life of current City streets through a Road Preservation Program.

Beginning in 2022, the Engineering Department began testing two products, Reclamite and HA5, to improve the current condition of streets and extend the time until they must be repaved,

Reclamite is a maltene (a natural component of asphalt) replacement technology that, when applied to existing asphalt pavements, penetrates the surface to protect against air and water intrusion.

HA5 was developed to meet the demand for effective asphalt preservation on residential roadways without the negative side effects of chip seals or slurry seals. Specifically engineered to preserve the native asphalt binder, HA5 is exceptional at preventing oxidative damage. As a result, streets that last longer and cost less to own.
