Debris clean up after Helene is still underway in Greer, and we have a few more updates for you this week.
SCDOT has collected 340,000 cubic yards of debris as of 11/14 across Greenville County. Collection will continue until at least January for our area. For the rest of the month in Greer, there will be a focus on Wade Hampton from US29/SC 291 all the way to the eastern county border with Spartanburg County.
We understand some people still haven’t had debris picked up or it may seem as if DOT is missing certain areas. Due to how FEMA structures its reimbursements, state road and city road debris cannot be mixed together. What this means is that the same trucks can’t pick up debris from state and city roads at the same time. DOT is using their own crews as well as contracted crews for work here in Greer. Lastly, any root balls or large logs will eventually be picked up with the use of larger equipment.
