Calling all interested vehicle technicians, the City of Greer has an open position for an emergency vehicle technician! We’re looking for someone with experience in automotive or electrical installation and repair. You’d be installing various equipment in to our emergency vehicles like: radios, center consoles, fabricated metal components, lights, sirens and more. Interested in applying? It’s time for another look in the Greerview as we both recap last week and look ahead with what will be going on this week in the City of Greer! This week, we take a look back at: Officer Julius Thompson recently being sworn in to the Greer Police Department, new outdoor basketball courts coming to Stevens Field, and the recent grand re-opening of the Walmart on East Wade Hampton. The City of Greer hopes you’ve had a great Labor Day so far! As a reminder, the City’s offices, facilities, and services are closed today. Trash collection will also be a day behind this week due to the holiday.

The first week of September in Greer is a quiet one. We don’t have anything planned other than letting you know that we will be closed for Labor Day tomorrow. We hope you’ve had a great Labor Day weekend so far!

Last week, members of the Greer Police Department trained at the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Center for Advanced Training. At this facility, Greer Police officers are able train with firearms, practice scenarios, and even hone their driving skills. 🚓

Public Services has given the green light and the water main issues in City Park that popped up this past Saturday have been resolved! The bathrooms closest to the amphitheater in the park are now open again. (Also, a subtle reminder of today’s Greer Farmers Market from 4:30 - 7:30 PM. The banner just happened to be at the bathroom we swear.) 😉

Join us this last week of August (we can’t believe how fast it has gone by either) for Greerview! This week, we take a look back at: the recent Greer Police Department's Law Enforcement Memorial Softball Tournament, the mayor’s opening at the SC Economic Developers’ Association Institute session, and welcoming back students in the Creative Advancement Centers after school program at Tryon Rec Center. Back a few weeks ago, the Greer Police Department held another Coffee with a Cop gathering at Starbucks off of Hwy 101. It’s part of a continued effort for Greer Police to have a positive impact in the community and it gives citizens an opportunity to meet the person behind the badge. As you can imagine, lots of great moments and conversations were had. A huge kudos and thank you to everyone who came out!

Heads up City of Greer residents: the City Park amphitheater stage will be closed on Monday, August 19 for staining and will reopen on Friday, August 23. There will be barricades surrounding the area while the contractor works. If all goes well and if weather permits, the stage will reopen on Friday. If the weather changes things, we’ll be sure to update you!
