Interested in a behind the scenes look at what makes the City of Greer tick? If so, you don’t want to miss out on this year’s Civics Academy! The Greer Civics Academy is a free ten-week course that allows residents to explore each and every city department to get a better understanding of how your local government works for you.
Registration is now open for the Fall 2024 session and starts on September 5th with a rundown from City leadership as well as a tour of City Hall. Classes occur each following Thursday and take place from 5:30 – 7:30 PM.

As Freedom Blast approaches, the City of Greer’s very own Robbie Davis was invited on to Your Carolina by Jamarcus Gaston to speak on the upcoming event! Freedom Blast is a great event for the whole family and aims to highlight veterans and the many organizations who represent them. If you were a kid at Camp Greer today, you probably just had the time of your life! (And if not, then just imagine being there through these pictures.) The Camp Greer Mascot parade was a massive success with the kids this year as Reedy Rip’It from The Greenville Drive, Stomper from the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, the Yellow Jacket from Greer High School, the Greenville Triumph SC, and Greer's very own Sarge were all present. City of Greer Parks, Recreation & Tourism and the Needmore Recreation Center knocked it out of the park!

Last night, the Greer City Council passed the city operating budget for the 24-25 fiscal year with a vote of 4-3. The budget goes into effect beginning on July 1, 2024. You can watch the council meeting and the final vote here: https://youtu.be/PsMo5k7GoFk
A heads up for any City of Greer residents or visitors: segments of Arlington Avenue will be temporarily closed over the coming days. The Public Services division will be installing new speed humps starting today, and it’s expected to take up to three days. Portions of the sidewalk on Arlington Ave. will also be replaced over the coming days. Public Services advises residents to not use their driveways for 2-4 days while the concrete sets.

The Greer Heritage Museum yard was named the Business Yard of the Month by the Greer Council of Garden Clubs. The Urban Parks team in the Public Services Department is responsible for maintaining this and many other areas in Greer Station. Thank you to this team for always making sure our Urban Park areas are looking their best!
The BMW Charity Pro-Am tournament officially kicks off tomorrow morning! Be sure to come and find the City of Greer enjoying all that the Pro-Am has to offer, including the beautiful Greer Golf course. We hope that everyone who is traveling in gets a chance to discover Greer and see the magic behind our city. We’ll see you all there!
The City of Greer wants to congratulate one of our very own, Justin Miller as he was just declared a Garden Hero by the Garden Club of South Carolina! The Garden Hero award is given to those who are passionate about providing education and invaluable experience to their community. Justin’s efforts here in the City of Greer are nothing short of exceptional, especially with his Monarch Butterfly conservation efforts. Great job to Justin and the Camellia Garden Club!
The BMW Charity Pro-Am Tournament Kick-Off this past Saturday at Greer Golf was a hole in one! Our junior golfers had a blast honing their skills and practicing swings thanks to the Junior Golf Clinics hosted by First Tee Upstate. Thank you to everyone involved for an amazing and fun event!

Do your kids know about summertime safety? Yesterday, Greer Police Department and Greer Fire Departments participated in the Summer Safety Social in partnership with Target! Kids got to learn about bike and pool safety for the upcoming summer season and got some awesome prizes for testing their knowledge.
Be on the lookout for more partnerships with Target along with Greer Fire and Greer PD!
In the wake of the water transmission line that was damaged a few days ago, we have some good news! Multiple city facilities have now had their waterlines flushed and water filters replaced. The water fountains at: Kids Planet, Century Park, Cannon Center, Stevens Field, and Victory Gym have all been turned back on. City Park outdoor restrooms and drinking fountains have also been turned back on.
Thank you to Greer CPW for their hard work so far in getting the damaged waterline repaired!
The BMW Charity Pro-Am takes place next week but Greer Golf is starting things off early! Be sure to bring the whole family on Saturday, June 1 for a free Tournament Kick-Off at Greer Golf. There will be plenty of activities including: face painting, games, bounce houses, music and more!
