May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the City of Greer is showing our support! This past Wednesday, was “Be Seen in Green Day” for us, which helps bring awareness to mental health by wearing the color green. Green is the official color for mental health awareness and represents renewal, hope, and vitality. Did you know that 1 in 5 Americans will experience a diagnosable mental health condition this year? If you see someone struggling with their mental health, please reach out to them and try to offer support. We can all make a difference in someone’s life or our own if we join together and advocate for one another.

Just a friendly notice to all City of Greer residents that trash service will run 1 day behind normal schedule due to Memorial Day next week. The Convenience Center will also be closed on Monday. We hope everyone has a great and safe weekend!

Today is International Building Safety Day and we want to take the time to highlight our Building & Development Standards team! The BDS team is responsible for upholding the different building codes of Greer’s many businesses, government buildings, homes, and facilities. Without their efforts, we wouldn’t have the safe and reliable structures that we use every day. They're like the foundation that holds Greer together (see what I did there?). 😎 Thank you to everyone on the BDS team for all that you do!

One last Greer Night post, we promise! Didn’t make it out? No worries! We’ve put together a highlight reel of some of the best moments. Thanks again to everyone involved in the setup and execution as well as to everyone who came out!

Along with other fundraisers, she’s helped grant 14 wishes across the Upstate. Alison helped to orchestrate a wish for Ellie Horton back during the holidays, and partnered with the City to surprise her with a trip to Disney. Ellie was once one of the kids on the long wait list to have their wish granted. There are currently 85 kids in Greenville and Spartanburg Counties on the wait list for wishes.
