The 4th of July holiday won’t interrupt trash collection in the City of Greer this year, but city offices and other city facilities will be closed in observance of the holiday.
The Convenience Center on Buncombe Street will be closed on Friday, July 4. It will reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 5 and remain open until noon. The Convenience Center accepts recyclable materials, e-waste, household batteries, oil, and antifreeze.
Meridian Waste will run normal trash collection routes on Friday, July 4. Customers on the schedule for Friday collection should put their trash bins at the curb by 7 a.m. before beginning Independence Day celebrations.
Many people celebrate the 4th of July with at-home fireworks displays. Properly disposing of used fireworks can be tricky, and if you don’t do it correctly, you could cause a fire or injury to yourself or the people who pick up your trash.
