If Verizon is your cell phone carrier, you might have trouble calling 911 until service is restored.
Here are some alternative ways to get help if you need emergency services:
Call 911 from a landline
Use a device connected to another carrier
Try making a wifi call if you are able to connect with a wifi network
If you have an iPhone 14 or better, text using the SOS feature
Verizon says its engineers are working to solve the problem, but there is no word on when service will be restored.
