The City of Greer’s new Sports & Events Center is an investment for the community by the community.

One of the companies that has worked alongside Harper General Contractors on the site off Highway 14 and S. Buncombe Road is RCS Grading. RCS is a Greer-based company whose mission is to move dirt and grow people. RCS helped get the 26-acre site ready for the work that’s happening now.

“It’s just exciting to be part of a project that you can drive by and say, ‘Hey, I was part of that,’ and this is one of the projects where it’s going to have that look,” Godfrey said. “It’s going to have that feel.”

Crenshaw Erosion Control is another Upstate-based company that played a crucial role in the early phases of construction. Crenshaw worked side-by-side with RCS Grading to stabilize the site and minimize runoff. Learn more about the company from owner Bailey Crenshaw in the video below:

January’s winter storms did not affect the construction timeline for the Sports & Events Center. In spite of the weather, the team finished all the building foundations, installed electrical conduit, and began putting up precast concrete walls manufactured off site by Metromont based in Greenville County. More than 130 wall panels are now in place, and the team expects to have all of the precast walls up next month.

The big focus for February is putting up structural steel around the building footprint. Stay tuned for more updates as construction continues through the spring.
