Greerview for the week of April 6 features trail updates, paving projects, and another accolade for the Greer Fire Department.
Contractors have begun paving the new South Tyger River Trail. If the weather cooperates, the trail should be open in mid-to-late summer. In the meantime, please stay clear of the work zone beginning at Country Club Park. It’s an active construction site and is not safe for recreation.
Crews have finished repaving the Greer City Stadium parking lot. Drainage issues have been a challenge over the years, so contractors paid extra attention to areas that tend to hold water. City Stadium has been the site for a wide range of community activities over the years, but these days, the facility hosts youth football, cheerleading, youth soccer, and archery activities.

On Friday, a team from Public Services worked on landscaping the area surrounding a repaving project on Stokes Street. The team planted grass seed between the asphalt and the natural surface around the parking area in the hopes of creating a smoother transition.
Drivers will have to detour around a CSX railroad crossing on Duke Street behind Greer CPW for most of this week. The railroad says the crossing should reopen by Thursday at 5 p.m.
The Greer Fire Department is one of 241 in the state recognized as a 2025 Fire Safe South Carolina Community. Departments receiving this designation have taken proactive steps to protect their communities through education and prevention efforts.
