Construction momentum continues to build at the Greer Sports & Events Center, and each month brings us closer to opening a truly transformative facility for our community and the broader sports landscape.

Progress on-site remains strong, with major structural milestones being achieved at a steady pace. This month, we anticipate the completion of roofing steel installation—an exciting step that will significantly advance the building’s overall structure and bring the vision of the facility more fully into view. As the exterior continues to take shape, the scale and impact of the project are becoming increasingly evident.

Beyond construction, planning is well underway for the programs and experiences that will bring the center to life. We are excited about the return of some of Greer’s beloved recreational offerings, including youth basketball leagues that have long been a cornerstone of our community. At the same time, we are expanding our programming to meet growing interest and demand with new opportunities such as youth volleyball and futsal leagues. These additions will broaden access to sports and create new pathways for young athletes to stay active, compete, and grow.

Interest from event organizers across the country continues to surge as well. The Greer Sports & Events Center is quickly gaining recognition as a premier destination for youth and amateur sports tourism. Organizations are already lining up to host tournaments and showcases, drawn by the facility’s scale, modern design, and the vibrant energy of the Upstate region.

One such partner, BIG SHOTS, has shared their enthusiasm for what’s ahead:

"BIG SHOTS is thrilled to host multiple events annually at the Greer Sports & Events Center, one of the nation’s premier youth sports venues. With its highly anticipated opening in 2027, this state-of-the-art facility—combined with the energy of the City of Greer and the Upstate region—will create an unforgettable experience for teams nationwide. Built with advanced technology and innovative design, the Greer Sports Center is a game-changing facility and a driving force for the future of youth basketball."

— Kevin Schneider, BIG SHOTS COO

As we look ahead, the excitement continues to grow—not just for the building itself, but for the lasting impact it will have on Greer. From local leagues to national tournaments, the Greer Sports & Events Center is poised to become a hub for competition, community, and connection for years to come.
