Greenville County Trail Donation
On June 10, Greenville County Council Member Kelly Long presented the City’s Parks, Recreation & Tourism team with a check for $5,000 at the East Tyger River trail head. The funds will go toward a pollinator garden to be planted at the trail head by the Camellia Garden Club. Thank you to Greenville County for this investment in our trails!
First Responder Block Party
Last week our police and fire departments facilitated a block party at the Kendrick apartments as a fun way to engage with the community. The kids enjoyed bubbles and crafts while playing games with our first responders.
Greer150: Boom to Bust
On Saturday, attendees got an in-depth look at Greer’s triumphs and challenges during Greer:150 Boom to Bust. Heritage Museum Director David Lovegrove guided guests through stories of Greer’s prosperous years, as well as the hardships the city faced through the early ‘90s. We were also honored to welcome former Mayor Shirlee Rollins, whose leadership helped guide Greer forward through many of those challenges and periods of change.
Mural Updates
Progress continues on our newest aesthetic addition to downtown as the Mural on Randall St. begins taking shape. Artist Adam Schrimmer of Blank Canvas is working hard to bring this beautiful new piece of public art to life! Just a reminder that as he works, several parking spaces on Randall as well as a portion of the sidewalk will be closed.
Coming Up
Greer Planning Commission will meet tonight at 6:30 at City Hall
City Park Maintenance
Repairs will be happening in City Park as a team works to level the brick pavers on the promenade and patio. Small sections will be blocked off as work is done, but this won’t impact any daily activities. The work is projected to take around 2 weeks and will be completed prior to Freedom Blast.
