An update on the City of Greer's first trail project, how Labor Day is going to impact the trash collection schedule, and when the next big event is rolling into town are all on the menu for this week's GreerView segment.
On the Trail
The first phase of the South Tyger River Trail project is in its final stages. The team will be constructing concrete stairs after finishing up the boardwalks. This phase of the trail begins at Country Club Park at 2501 Country Club Road and runs along the South Tyger River. The trail will be accessible during daytime hours even if the park's ballfields are closed.
Phase 1A of the South Tyger River Greenway Project is 12 feet wide and consist of concrete, boardwalks, and natural surfacing. The trail will meet ADA requirements and accessible parking will also be available.
The master plan for all phases of the trail project includes connection to nearby neighborhoods, Greer High School, and Greer Golf.
Downtown Mural Project
The new downtown mural is starting to take shape on the side of The Great Bay Oyster House building at the intersection of Main and Poinsett Streets. Adam Schrimmer from Blank Canvas Mural Company started painting last week. He hopes to finish the "Welcome to Greer" design sometime around Labor Day. You might remember Adam recently completed the Greer150 mural on the side of the old Davenport building. That design depicts a street scene from Trade Street in 1938.

Greer150: Greer Station Groove
Hundreds of people packed Randall Street on Saturday for the Greer Station Groove celebrating 150 years of Greer. The free outdoor concert was the latest effort to bring the community together to mark the city's sesquicentennial.

Labor Day Schedule Impacts
City of Greer offices will be closed next Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day.
Trash collection will shift by one day next week due to the holiday. Meridian Waste will collect Monday's routes on Tuesday and will continue with the modified schedule through Saturday of next week.
