This week's GreerView segment is packed with opportunities to enjoy and support the arts in the City of Greer.
Greer's Downtown Welcome Mat
The "Welcome to Greer" mural is officially camera-ready. On Friday, Artist Adam Schrimmer from Blank Canvas Mural Company signed his latest work which brightens up the side of The Great Bay Oyster House at the intersection of South Main, Poinsett, and Trade Streets.
Adam Schrimmer is the same artist who painted the Greer150 mural on the side of the old Davenport building at Randall and Trade earlier this summer.
Latino Art Exhibition
The "Honoring Our Loved Ones" exhibition is now showing at the Edward R. Driggers City of Greer Center for the Arts at 804 Trade Street. The show features painting, sculpture, mixed media, and contemporary folk art from 23 South Carolina Latino artists.
"This goes along with the Hispanic Latino Heritage Month and our Day of the Dead festival at the end of the month,” said Robin Byouk, Cultural Arts Supervisor. “Since the Day of the Dead festival is about remembering those who have passed on and keeping them fresh on our minds, this exhibit goes right along with it."
The exhibition will be available for viewing through the end of October. The cultural arts team is hosting a reception on Tuesday, October 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Artisan Makers Market
More than 50 artists will pack Greer City Park with their handcrafted work this weekend. Artisan Makers Market could be a great opportunity to knock out some holiday shopping on Saturday, October 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You can explore woodwork, paintings, pottery, crochet, baked goods, and jewelry while enjoying live music and food vendors.

Coming Up
Greer City Council will meet Tuesday night at 6:30 at Greer City Hall at 301 E. Poinsett Street. You can view the agenda on our City Council page.
