All parks and athletic fields in the City of Greer remain closed on Monday. Athletic programming is canceled today, but wrestling will resume on Tuesday. Monday trash collection will operate on a delayed start and will be limited due to disposal site closures. We'll keep you posted on the schedule for the rest of the week.
Trash collection in the City of Greer will be on a delayed start Monday. Monday customers should put out their bins, but they might not all be collected. Disposal sites are closed, so the contractor will get as many customers as possible until the truck is full. We'll keep you posted on the collection schedule as we learn it.
Please avoid N. Line Street between E. Arlington Ave and E. Poinsett Street. Greer PD is working a crash, and the roadway is blocked by emergency vehicles. Stay off the roads entirely if you can.
Roads are deteriorating in the Greer area. Stay off the streets if you can. Greer PD has responded to six wrecks in one hour, and they've had to help several drivers who've gotten stuck in the snow. Avoid the area of Highway 14 near Chandler Rd. Stay safe, Greer.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning that will be in effect from 4:00pm today (1/30) until 7:00am Sunday (2/1), as well as an Extreme Cold Watch from 7:00pm on 1/31 to 10:00am on 2/1.
In an effort to keep everyone safe going into this potential winter weather, all athletic fields are closed today and all parks will be closed beginning tomorrow. All city programming has also been cancelled for the weekend.

Trash collection update: Meridian Waste is going to try to double up on routes the rest of this week in order to collect all trash in the City of Greer by the end of the day on Friday ahead of another round of winter weather in the weekend forecast. On Thursday, drivers will pick up Wednesday & Thursday routes. On Friday, they'll pick up any remaining Thursday routes and all of Friday's routes. Obviously, this is a fluid situation. Our teams are making their way down the rest of the street to remove the barricades.

Our teams have just opened the 100 block of Trade Street to vehicle traffic. They are working their way down to open the entire stretch of Trade downtown. Some side streets will remain closed due to ice accumulation including the one-way section of Victoria St. Please continue to use caution driving and walking downtown.

Our pickle ball courts can't be treated to assist in the melting process, because the chemicals would damage the surface. So for now, we wait!
