Crews have begun rebuilding the Stevens Field wall that was damaged in Hurricane Helene.

Brick layers are about 90% finished with one side of the wall, and they’ll continue working around the perimeter as weather permits. Once the construction phase is complete, crews will begin painting.

Federal disaster funds will reimburse the City of Greer for the cost of rebuilding the wall.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is beginning a road project that will impact some drivers in Greer until next fall.

The plan is to convert the four-way stop at Gap Creek and Gary Armstrong Roads into a round-about. The DOT will intermittently close areas along Gary Armstrong and Hamilton Road during construction of the new intersection.

Drivers should look for alternate routes during the construction if possible. If you must go through the area around Gap Creek and Gary Armstrong, slow down and pay close attention to signs and work crew instructions. Detours will be marked with signs, but routes may change as the construction progresses.

The DOT estimates the new round-about will be open to drivers in fall of 2026.
