The City of Greer Center for the Arts is presenting its gingerbread house competition for the fourth year.
 
“Annually will bring anywhere from 60 to 100 people to see our gingerbread houses,” Cultural Arts Supervisor Robin Byouk said.
 
This year, submissions fall into two categories—adults and children.
 
“We’ve had one family that has submitted every year for the last four years and we have some new people who have submitted we can’t compete with Biltmore, but this is local and there’s a lot of great talent here,” Byouk said.
 
There’s still time to see the submissions and get into the holiday spirit.
 
“You can see them during our holiday arts fair on Saturday, December 9 from 10 AM until 2 PM and we have Santa here and then the following Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM,” Byouk said.
 
There will also be opportunities to do some Christmas shopping at the arts fair.
 
“We have over 23 vendors we’re going to get in this building from the wildlife rehab with their cute little animals to Mila’s Minis,” Byouk said.
 
Plus, an opportunity to purchase a ceramic bowl to support the Empty Bowls project.
 
“All the proceeds stay here in the city of Greer. They’re going to the afterschool program or the summer program,” Byouk said.
 
It’s a time of year that everyone can come together and celebrate the holidays and the arts in Greer.
 
“It’s really great because there’s a lot of people who only see once a year and usually Mr. Driggers who the building is named for. He usually drops by to see the gingerbread houses too,” Byouk said.
