Greer Police Department Cops for Tots Event

GREER, SC – The Greer Police Department will host its 34th annual Cops for Tots program
Saturday, December 16th, beginning at 9am inside Greer City Hall. I invite you to spend time with us on Saturday morning to show your readers/viewers how this event provides a positive
interaction between children and our officers, as well as, how our community comes together to assist families in need. Children will be able to spend time with Santa and his elves as we spread cheer in Greer.

The Cops for Tots program started in 1989 when officers with the Greer Police Department
bought and delivered presents to one family in the Sunnyside Community. Every year since, the
Greer Police Department has partnered with the Greer community in providing Christmas
presents to underprivileged children so that no child is left without presents on Christmas Day. In 2022 the Greer Police Department provided gifts for more than 200 children in the Greater Greer area, and this year we will be providing toys to over 250 children.
“The Cops for Tots program embraces the Greer Police Department’s belief that Policing is a
Partnership. Without our partnerships with community members, organizations, and local
businesses, this program would not be a success, or be able to continue each year. The positive
impact this program provides has allowed us to build relationships within our communities that
we may not have been able to otherwise. The joy of Christmas we see in the eyes of the children we spend time with during this event is priceless” said Lieutenant Chris Forrester.
