harvest kitchen greer

Many people in Greer know Harvest Kitchen for its delicious salads and healthy food options. Now, the restaurant has obtained the Gluten-Free Approved certification endorsed by the National Celiac Association.

“I wanted the public to be assured that we have a third-party, looking at our kitchen and looking over it and making sure that we are certifiably gluten-free with no cross contamination,” Owner Heidi Henry said.

That’s owner Heidi Henry, who says she started Harvest Kitchen after her own health diagnosis.

“I’ve been a celiac for close to 20 years and I know the difficulty of going out to eat and having gluten-free options but then not sure that there’s some cross-contamination with that,” Henry said.

She says cross-contamination can often leave those with an intolerance in pain and dealing with other associated symptoms. That’s not something people have to worry about at Harvest Kitchen, where everything is 100% gluten-free.

“To be able to come here and you can bring your father who just found out he was a celiac or your child is kind of a safe place,” Henry said.

Henry says other restaurants can help by creating dedicated kitchens and seeking education on the topic, so everyone can find something delicious and safe to eat.

“I would love for this to kind of just a ripple effect to other restaurant tears maybe someone who wants to open up a place that it would just be a place of inspiration that we need a little bit more of us in the area,” Henry said.
